is tonally the sweetest to my ears. very different from the excerpts of jayanthi kumaresh that i posted this morning. you'll find an almost fanatical devotion to preserving the vocal tradition from which it evolved. the progenitor of the style karaikudi sambasiva iyer was a severe and almost ascetic like man. very few recordings survive. rajeshwari padmanabhan is his disciple.
