Bhagyanagaram IS Hyderabad. The nizam had a hindu wife called Bhagyamati. So he once named the city as Bhagyanagar(am).

Now this will become a SuCH fact. Actually the story goes that the founder of Hyderabad, the Qutbshahi ruler Mohammad Quli -- not one of the Nizams who came much later -- had a Hindu wife called Bhagyamati whose name on conversion was Hydermahal. So Bhagyanagaram and Hyderabad are supposed to be two names after the same person.

now it is conclusively proven that nizam was a hardcore secularist because he took a hindu wife. any questions? i wonder if that guard position i advertised some time ago is now filled.

I beg to differ with you. There's no particular source that confirms this. There are so many legends about the naming of Hyderabad and this is just one among them.

PP, you think we're so naive to fall for your Chanakya like tactics. We know that you've invited your buddy from Hyderabad to join the forum so you can bolster you BASH Brothers & Sisters community after having beaten black and blue by ultimate poll warriors. If you think you can resuscitate your tribe with inane strategies like this then tough luck

Mybad! I forgot abt the history of Hyd and its rulers. In my mind all muslims/turks/turakas who ruled hyd are the nizams. I forgot abt the qutubshahi dynasty. Yeah, what happened to them how did the evil nizams make their way to hyd? Maybe Racchu can enlighten us with his cut and pastes..........or maybe not! affraid

The Qutbshahis were good rulers, much better than the Nizams. Aurangzeb the great secular ruler defeated them through treachery and had many Shia nobles killed. He appointed a governor who eventually departed independence as the Nizam-ul-mulk (literally governor of the country.)

Oh, ada sangati! No wonder the nizams were so evil (the remnants of whom we can see in the MIM hooligans).
