KV,
There are about 80 million people living in Tamil Nadu.
How many of them know மென்பொருள் means software?
Even if Tamil Nadu becomes an independent country, the people there will continue to use the English language for science and math. The best way to go about this to teach in Tamil to kids in schools but use the technical terms in the English language.
Using the mother tongue to explain the scientific phenomena and laws will make the kids understand the concepts better.

Seriously speaking, I support your fight against the imposition of Hindi.
I think that is more important than wasting energy in translating technical terms fro,m English into tamil.
Btw I saw a book in Tamil which was the translated version on Astrophysics written by Stephen Hawking. The scientist had written for the common man.
Do you think a villager in TN will understand the translated book if he reads it?

We are talking about books which are tamil translations of scientific nature.
How would you translate the following words?
1. Resonance
2. Dark matter
3. Black Hole
Are you going to say karuppu Ottai for Black hole?

The high school dropout in England will understand the words and sentences but may not understand the content.Kayalvizhi wrote:Will a high school drop out in England understand Hawking's book?
But, in TN, even a high school graduate will not understand the words or the sentence - let alone the content.
If you talk in pure tamil, then the young tamils that you are trying to recruit will likely say "thO parudaa...eDho loosu onnu penaathikinu irkuthu...suthaa saaavu giraaki."
