...Convinced that she could not win over the people of Telangana without realizing their dream of separate state, Indira Gandhi decided to announce the Telangana state. The machinery was set in motion and she instructed her principal secretary, PN Haksar, to work out the details. But, TN Kaul, the then foreign secretary, reminded her of the pending case of Hyderabad state in the United Nations Organization and dissuaded her not to touch upon the issue. "Kaul recorded this in his memoir," Panduranga Reddy said.

So, is Reddy saying that it would be a mistake to create Telangana or there is no threat from Pakis? There were also discussions that Naxals and Monomaniacs would come alive if Telangana separates. They are a real threat. It is interesting that the guy released this book at this time. I am sure he is a Telangana sympathizer.

Thinking of Telangana, looks like PP is away in Hyderabad coordinating the KCR-gang to drive Andhra fellows out.

My view is the Telengana agitation by KCR is NOTHING compared to the grounds up movement b Channa Reddy. It derived strength from the Tamil movement in the mid sixties. If India ever came close to separation it was in 65 - separation of TN. Pakis and Russians should be thanked for diverting the attention and change of political scenario that took the wind out of the tamil movement. It came close to separation as the movement was peaceful and not like the one in J & K. Hindians could not deploy the military on the scale it does in j & K.

"Reddy alleges that the revival of MIM , strict implementation of land ceiling act in Telangana and the Naxalite movement were used as a pretext to liquidate the Telangana movement and let the 'Andhra' people grab land. All these steps have resulted in the land grabbing by Andhras around Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana."

The above excerpt pretty much gave it out, this dude is a telangana partisanist. Let's hope he stated that in the preface.
