AAP ki Lok Satta Empty AAP ki Lok Satta

Why and How did AAP(and AK) create an impact where Lok Satta(and JP) failed?

JP is a policy man and AK a movement one and so LS ran an awareness oriented campaign and AAP took an action oriented one. The former ensures that the vision and hence the direction is clear and the latter that the feet are on the ground while treading the path. We need both to co-exist and in fact work together for the betterment of democracy and political culture in India. I see that JP (and LS) did extend their support to AAP in Delhi and also for the general elections in 2014. We have to see if they’ll work under the same flag/party in AP and Hyderabad in particular.

The irony, however, is that JP is a better executioner and realist than AK himself is and yet, like an idealist, he choose an awareness driven campaign over an action based one. IMO, JP will do better at the helm of administration and execution and AK will do better as an opposition leader keeping the establishment on constant checks and vigil. This could be one reason why AAP approached Kiran Bedi to be their CM candidate for the Delhi elections. Again IMO, she should have accepted it and in this hung assembly would have been an acceptable candidate for BJP to support an AAP government led by her. With both BJP and AAP refusing to stake a claim the next few days are interesting to watch and so also the results of the LS and re-election (if it happens) at Delhi in about six months from now.

There are probably very many finer details that answer the question above. What is your take?

Yes! I met JP. He is very smart and MATURE. There is a political vacuum in AP and voters will look for honest and effective politicians, not CON sycophants. This is the right time for JP and AAP to work together. They will be surprised at the support they will have in AP.

SMarta,
you may have hit upon a key finding. aap was an outcome of anti corruption movement that was centered around Delhi. Another movement that propelled aap is the gangrape anger.
most Indian self made leaders are products of mass movements such as laloo and nitish kumar from jai prakash narayan movement.
rest of them come from party establishment, political families and money bags. another source is caste groups.
so a middle class oriented leader has to be action oriented people's person. while jp in ap is a good guy he is no
acttion person.
ap is in such emotional anger, lok satta may be drowned in the shouting.
