The Economist on Modi
A nice article that more or less captures the intent of the Indian people in electing him.

>>The wind is blowing in a different direction now, I guess. If they had been pitching Rahul Gandhi originally, whether they liked Modi or not, that is weird. The one point they make in this article is the peril of Modi becoming an autocrat a la IG. That would be a scary proposition. Hope this guy keeps the eye on the ball.

Re: The Economist on Modi
First that article needs to have a proper map of India, that includes one of the biggest states of India, J&K, which sends 6 active members of parliament to Lok Sabha.Kris wrote:Propagandhi711 wrote:isnt this the same paper that recommended india elect the low beta scion rahul gandhi and that modi election would be such a mistake?

Second gratuitous references to Pakistan is totally un-necessary. Trade with Pakistan is over rated. At best it can help a few border states a little, but we are going to too many bad things in return, due to increased cross border travel and higher incidents of Fake Currency, Narcotics/Weapons Smuggling and Long term Terrorism infrastructure being setup in India. India is not going to catch up with China in per-capita GDP (it is about four times higher), by trading with Pakistan.
These two parts of the article are disingenuous. Rest are Ok.
