Mutual interests. India needs investment. Japan wants to invest.
 China is bothering japan. India could provide manufacturing opportunities.
India needs technology. Japan has technology.
US and west are ok with Indo Japanese cooperation.


Modi seems to have performed well in Japan. Abe went out of his way to make modi comfortable. 
So modi's first major foreign trip is going to be a resounding success.

2.1 lakh crore investments in five years promised.  Even if a fraction of them become reality, it is a home run for modi.
