Re: Idli vs Samosa
Such comparisons are odious...
Like comparing Dev Anand, Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar...
Compare Idli with Wada... I like Wada
Compare Samosa to Batata Wada...my vote goes to Batata Wada

Re: Idli vs Samosa
Some randon thoughts.
Idli is steamed, so no oil (good).
Somosa is fried, so lot of oil (no good).
Idli is all starch (no good)
Somosa id 1/2 starch (okay).
Idli is usually eaten with sambar (some nutrition) after each piece (or the whole idli cake) is completely bathed in sambar.
Somosa is complimented by some sweet chutney (no nutrition), but the pastry cannot be bathed in that tamirand chutney.
Idlis cannot be non-veg (good and bad)
Somosas can be veg or non-veg (good and bad)
Idli batter can be converted into a dosa batter easily.
Somosa (the maida + alu + peas) - can it be turned into a alu parattha? Does it taste any good? I don't know.
I have heard of people who ate 33 idlies in one stretch.
Anyone ate 33 somosas?

Vegetable Samosa: 150 cals; 12 g fat + 12 g carb (But, there are different types of it)
