Brahmin: Satva:: Shudra: ?
Bhagvat Gita talks in detail about "Gunas" - Saatvik (of Truth), Raajsik (of Passion), and Taamsik (of Ignorance).
These fundamental gunas are described in detail, in Gita.
Over time in Hinduism, Brahmins claimed to have control over Saatvik Gunas as their right based on birth?
i.e. if you are born a brahmin, you automatically have Saatvik gunas?
This shocks me.
Gunas are a person's traits.
How can "birth" have any control over it?
Thank God, our defense services do NOT hire folks based on caste (or even Varna based on birth).
Nor do our education system hires professors based on caste, or Varna.
Then why do we attach so much importance to a person's birth in India?
Its a social evil, and I want to know who started it?

Why is there a question mark at the end of your statement? Are you unsure about whether you want to know it? Or are you surprised that you want to know who started it? At 55, do you still believe one individual could pull off deep societal stratification singlehandedly? Why is there a b after TS? So many questions..so many truths to seek....TruthSeeker wrote:Its a social evil, and I want to know who started it?

>>> It has proven to be much more insidious than would seem at first glance. It has created a hierarchical mindset. If you think it is okay to look down on someone, you are predisposed to accepting someone else can look down on you. I think this is one of the factors that made it easy for foreigners lord it over us.

Hi Kris,
Social hierarchy is one side of it.
The complete absence of "logic" is another.
How can mankind be brainwashed in our history, to accept this irrational caste system, than God?
Intellect fights to accept God, because it reasons.
I find more intellectuals in Brahmins (by knowledge, not by birth) who passionately reject God, but somehow do not show the same passion in rejecting man-made caste system?
To me, a Gorkha who won Paramvir Chakra, is a true Kshatriya.
To me, a BR Adembkar, who wrote our constitution, is a true Brahmin.
Who knows about their birth, unless one digs?
How can humans, esp Hindus, miss this simple logical distinction, based on Karma, but NOT on birth?
Why do Hindus practice so widely this irrational system?
Theory is one side, but practice is another. Are we so foolish, collectively as a religion?

Mahadalit Manjhi Politics being played out in Bihar.
The Truth is that Indians are a bunch of fools divided in terms of Manjhi and Yadav in Bihar, and between Tollywood's popularity in Jayalalitha and Rama Naidu in South!
Useless voters we are, and we expect better governance?
SI amazes me in their childish behavior to vote for actors. Rajni, yeah?
