salman khan and i were in the same BA plane once and he was in business class and i was in regular class but i was like 18 and i made a quick dash to the exit cuz i only had my handbag with me and we both got out at the same time and headed to baggage claims. i felt i was too cute for him and put him on ignore.

on display here are two admirers of a khan, one because khan implies that hindus are worthy of his association with them, and the other, because the bollywood movies that were forced on her as "indian culture" while growing up in the u.s. conditioned her to admire khan-like bollywood creatures.

q1: what's common to these two admirers of khan?

note: there are people born to indian parents who grew up in the u.s. without a hint of who or what a salman khan is.

q2: does the daily exposure to, and conditioning by bollywood culture account for the 'c' in 'abcd'?

There are also people in US who were born and brought up in a Christian commune for 20 years and who dont know anyone from Bolly/kolly/tolly/molly wood.

his mother is a marathi hindu ( sushila charak ) and his father salim khan decided to keep the ganesh idol in his house for pooja for three days every year during maharashtra's ganesh festival before doing the ritual immersion in water .

i am impressed because his father has had to brave opposition from many muslims who denounced him .

his father also adopted a hindu beggar's child whom he saw crying alongside her dead mother . she was brought up as a hindu and named arpita . she was married to a hindu boy with hindu rites .

it is extremely difficult to do this for a common muslim even if he is liberal because other muslims around him will denounce him violently, to put it very mildly . salim khan was able to survive because he is extremely upper class .

I remember reading somewhere where he said he had called his sister in Pakistan to tell her about the wedding and the woman took him to task as to why she couldn't find a muslim. Khan made a comment about how how even people like his sister get transformed when they move to Pakistan.

thank you for the information, but I have no interest in the secular credentials of salman khan's parents.
