Rahul's stock is rising faster than India's GDP Empty Rahul's stock is rising faster than India's GDP

Far too many people, including many Modi loyalists, feel they have been short-changed and have started to speak out publicly.

The Modi mania is fading so fast that people have even started to warm up to Rahul Gandhi. Suddenly, he is seen as someone who can cause the BJP a few headaches. It is not the case that Rahul has miraculously transformed into a credible contender for power; it is that the fabled Modi magic has lost its pull.

According to close BJP watchers, the party appears seriously rattled by a seemingly re-energised Rahul, and is struggling to mount a credible counter attack. Amit Shah’s cheap jibe at Rahul’s Italian links (“Rahulji, you’re wearing Italian glasses, that’s why you see no difference (between UPA and BJP government)’’ is a sign of growing jitters at the highest level of party leadership.
Even those who have no love lost for Shourie say that he couldn’t have put it better than when –questioning Modi’s curious silence on the issue—he said: "If Modi tweets on Sania Mirza’s victory and wishing on somebody’s birthday and then he doesn’t say a word on critical issues like Ghar Wapsi, Churches and Love Jihad, it will draw an inference."

Exactly. By now, the country has already drawn its "inference" and it is not very flattering. It is all very well to be outraged by Americans lecturing us on religious freedoms, but talk to any minority group and they will tell you that their sense of insecurity has greatly increased since this government took office.

Forget the benighted and "disloyal" Muslims. When a person like Julio Ribeiro says that he feels like an outsider and an unwanted person in his own country, it is clear that “things have gone too far’’, as Shourie pointed out.

“The minority people are certainly not wrong in their conclusion. We have to wake up,’’ he warned.

Pappu is just imitating YSR thinking that ars-licking farmers and promising to ruin the economy for doling out money to them will fetch votes. Rural folks in India are no longer suckers. They want progress, prosperity and education/jobs for their children. The youth (urban or rural) are aspirational. They don't give a shit to dynasties and self-serving crooks.

Right you are! He now is the vice president of the Congress party and may soon become its Pres. Besides, he also was known in the past to be residing in a very famous prime ministerial residence-cum-office of yore (10 Janpath, New Delhi).

Rahul apparently just came back from a vacation and made a few statements. That is "news" and achievement in India. Alas the bar is so low. The guy did nothing for 10 years, his most famous activity is to tear an ordinance issued by his party's government.

Anyway, why should prime minister comment on Ghar Wapasi (conversions to Hinduism from those who were originally Hindus) ?  Conversions are  not new in India. Conversions out of Hinduism as a social activity that has been going on for years, allegedly facilitated by the Congress and NGO's etc..

Was he the PM? by the same token, what are Modi's credentials, besides enabling Gujarat pogrom by leading from the front.

But in this case these are openly facilitated by the MPs of ruling party.

Seems so unlike the conversion-friendly Congress party and the missionary "backed" media (TOI etc.) doing / saying (writing) things in a subtle way!
