The 72-year-old Hunt said he was never given a chance to explain his position. The trouble started when he told the World Conference of Science Journalists in South Korea that there was a ''trouble with girls'' who worked in laboratories, saying they cry when criticized.

There is absolutely no freedom of EXPRESSION these days as anything will likely offend the "sentiments" of someone or other.

and i personally have seen female students break down into tears when criticzed. however when that happens the first thing to examine is if the person delivering the criticism is being fair. one of the key things to keep in mind in any didactic setting is that the professor should create a safe environment. it's one of the criterion that we look at when ranking teachers. an env that is safe is one in which the student is not ridiculed for making mistakes or asking questions. people are putting in the time and making the effort to learn and they shouldn't be belittled. if a prof is doing that he needs to be kicked out.

this guy may be right in stating that female students are given to tears but really what kind of idiot says it out loud. moreover why did he make all of them cry? it's time for some self-examn and it's appropriate to show him the door. entitlement is for the wives and widows of indian premiers, not for nobel prize winners. all indians know that.
