It's to the great credit of HRTC (Himachal Road Transport Corp.) and its staff (especially drivers and conductors) to keep buses operating on very difficult, remote and less used roads while serving the small communities scattered in the Himalayas.
Several decades ago, one of my relatives from Dist. Kangra, who used to be a teacher in a Govt. school, was transferred to a school in Pangi region. There were no buses running between Chamba and Pangi then, making it necessary for people to travel on foot while carrying the stuff / essentials on animals (horses, sheep etc.). It would take several days to complete the journey. Moreover, the schools etc. in that region remained closed during the entire winter. Anyway, whenever my relative was visiting home from Pangi while on vacation etc., he was treated very well and kindly wherever he went.
