Carl Sagan (1934–1996) was an American astronomer, planetary scientist, cosmologist, astrophysicist, astrobiologist, author and science communicator. His 1980 television series Cosmos on science (comprising 13 episodes) became an instant hit with public and has been watched over the years by millions of people around the world.
