This refers to the controversy surrounding the Deoband fatwa on triple talaq (that it is valid even if uttered in a state of drunkenness). All Muslims believe that the Holy Koran has given excellent laws on marriage, divorce, inheritance etc., which are indeed far better than modern laws.

An overwhelming majority of Muslims oppose the unilateral and instant triple divorce system and prefer the rational Koranic laws. The Ulema belonging to many schools of thought consider the system un-Islamic and invalid. Many books have been written on the subject. Islam provides laws for all situations and it is our inability to make proper use of them that often lands us in trouble. The media exploit the situation for their own purpose.
