actually it's more complicated. sometimes the person helping u expects a certain level of equation always, and is not able to adjust to a 'normal' give and take of a relationship. they either want a credit all the time, or sometimes, they resent it when u turn around and want to help them too, coz they had started believing by now that they are perfect compared to u. and hence, such relationships end sour unless both are mature and resilient enough to changes in their lives. Been on both sides of the helper - helpee equations.
