I would like to be considered a liberal on a lot of issues - but death penalty should be restricted to serial killers, serial rapists, and Kasab, Afzal, Osama, Dawood caliber AAA rated terrorists.

Also, if any cops or military personnel were killed in any terrorist attacks, the accused should be tried in a military court and high court/supreme court only for appeals on death penalty.

Why put to death a criminal? keep him alive and torture the convict for life. No need to give the rascal an easy way out.
