Btw Amir Khusrau was around circa 13th century AD. Hindi is older than you imagine it to be.

In modern India, the importance of Hindi has already declined significantly. Youngsters all across India are speaking better English. Even Bimari guys are speaking without that iskool accent. Cowbelt politicians will find it hard to shove Hindi through the throats of not just SIs but also bimari youth for votes. If you ask me, HINDI is doomed!

Unlike what you have been thinking, regional languages will thrive. Just wait and see.

if this is in response to my post on the gloomy state of hindi, i don't remember saying anything about hindi's age. OTOH i did say,
is anyone publishing important works of literature in hindi?
note the tense of my question. i was asking if anyone was writing any works of importance that people have taken note of, of late.

The literary standards in Hindi have declined but they have also declined for English, tamil,French and in fact literature in all languages. I seem to recall you claiming in an earlier post that Hindi is only a couple of centuries old.

Aap hilay aur moye hilaaye, Wa ka hilna moye mun bhaye;
Hil hil kay woh huva nasankha. Aye sakhi saajan? Na sakhi pankha!

It shakes itself, and shakes me too, The shaking really pleases me;
It has become so frail by continuosly shaking. Is it the beloved? No dear, a fan!

The first line is meaningless without the second line. At any rate these kind of poems are riddles designed to make you think a little bit. Here is another one:

Bakhat bakhat moye wa ki aas, raat dina oo rahat mo paas;
Meray man ko sab karat hay kaam. Aye sakhi saajan? na sakhi, Ram!

(Each moment I long for him;
day and night he remains with me,
and does what my heart asks him to do.
Is it the beloved? No my dear, its Ram!)
