Hope of peace for Turkey's Kurds
Three Kurdish women of separatist organization PKK were murdered in Paris. It is suspected that the murders -- likely orchestrated by Iran -- aimed to disrupt peace talks between the Turkish government and the PKK. And it looks like that is not going to happen. The peace talks with jailed PKK leader Ocalan will go on. As Iraq's Kurdistan becomes independent in all but name, Turkey is its largest trading partner and both Turks and Kurds from Turkey benefit from the business opportunities there.
Here is something interesting for people obsessed with imposing a language on others.
Still, Mr Erdogan’s government has responded to the linguistic and political demands of Turkey’s millions of Kurds more than any of its predecessors did. It introduced optional Kurdish lessons in school last year and is proceeding with a proposal to allow criminal defendants to use Kurdish languages in the courtroom.
Mr Barkey sees a prospect of Turkey accepting wider changes that could bring the conflict to an end.“People are ready to accept mother tongue education in schools. The country is tired of war and attitudes have changed – as with gay marriage in the US.”

One friendly advice to Turks and Kurds. Keep Norway as far away as possible. They will stab you in the back.

Don't blame Norway for the tragedy that befell your people. Blame your dead terrorist leaders and the Rajapaksas.Kayalvizhi wrote:One friendly advice to Turks and Kurds. Keep Norway as far away as possible. They will stab you in the back.

Well, the problem was not of Norway's making. They tried to step in and mediate a difficult problem. As often happens in such situations, both sides have their complaints about Norway. You have stated yours. On the Sinhala side, there is the perception that the Norwegians were taken for a ride by the LTTE, which wanted to use the peace process as a ruse to recuperate and rebuild after major offensives. They blame Norway for being willing accomplices to this LTTE strategy. Whichever way you look at it, Norway played an insignificant role in the horrors that were committed on that island.Kayalvizhi wrote:no. i saw a draft report that shows norways duplicity. the talked doomed before it began, norway was stupid or callous misconduct

even before talks started norway should have realized talks CAANOT succeed because of an evil in the neighborhood. They should have walked away silently or if they were hoinest and brave exposed the evil and stepped out.
