NRA ad reprehensible: Chris Christie Empty NRA ad reprehensible: Chris Christie

Is this is a sign of public opinion turning against the NRA's overreach? Chris Christie clearly has 2016 presidential ambitions, and he still sees it fit to come out openly against the NRA for this ad about Obama's kids. He apparently doesn't think it is going to hurt him in GOP primaries to speak out against this ad.

“To try and make a political point out of that is reprehensible,” Christie, 50, said today at a press briefing in Trenton, where he announced a new task force to study violence. “I think it’s awful to bring public figures’ children into the political debate -- they don’t deserve to be there.”

The governor said he wasn’t worried about influence from the NRA, or from such gun-control advocates as former U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords or the group formed by James Brady, the Reagan administration press secretary wounded in an assassination attempt.

Time, which featured Christie on the cover of its Jan. 21 issue, said “he’s not afraid of picking fights with Republicans or making allies of Democrats.” The story said the governor has a “full-bore political style.”

Chris Christie went against Obama before and during GOP convention but played his cards well during Sandy. If Chris Christie could get the right wind direction 10 days before elections and Romney couldn't then obviously Romney wasn't moving with the right people.

Yet again Chris Christie has sensed people's opinion well in the country and is currently playing his bets. Chris Christie will be looking to go for moderate republicans and democrats which Romney tried best to get but never succeeded.

He can count on moderates for the general election, but the primaries are a different game altogether. Even Rick Perry was painted as not conservative enough (on immigration) in the 2012 primaries. Perhaps Christie thinks the primaries of the next cycle won't be so skewed to the extreme wing of the GOP.
