No sex due to erectile dysfunction

I can count on one hand the number of times my husband and I have had sex in the last three years.
His sex drive began to wane five years ago because of obesity, blood pressure, prediabetes, high cholesterol and some stresses related to work and developmental disability in one of our children. Now he is a full-blown diabetic with erectile dysfunction, blurry vision, one failing kidney, frequent thirst and urination, anger related to blood sugar fluctuations, depression, and heart problems.
I know it is not abnormal for the frequency of sex to go down in a marriage over time, during and right after pregnancy and periods of work stress or unemployment but it does usually return to some extent. Even once a week would be more than enough for me. Unfortunately nothing works. Not Viagra. Not Cialis. I miss weekends where we would make love to release the stresses and tensions of the work week. I find myself staying up until the late hours of the night looking at porn online and desperate for sex.
Right now, we are not husband and wife but merely brother and sister raising two children. He wakes up every hour or so in the night to urinate or to drink water. Due to this, he is always sleepy during the day, very cranky and cannot hold down a job. In addition to his unemployment situation, we have to deal with his mood swings when his blood sugar is too high after a big meal or too low if he took too much insulin. If his blood sugar is too high after a meal, he feels tired and sick and needs to take insulin to bring it down. If his blood sugar is too low, he becomes verbally abusive and stubbornly refuses to drink juice or eat some candy to bring it back up. This balancing act is very difficult even when he eats small regular meals because his diabetes has progressed so much.
I am at my wit's end. He cannot even be entrusted to watch our autistic child when I am at work because he can barely take care of himself. I am in my sexual prime. I had imagined a beautiful life of regular sex and growing old with the one I love. Now I dread become a full time caretaker to a very sick husband. I had imagined healthy and intelligent children who would take care of me in old age. Now I worry about my child's future and who will take care of him when I am dead.

Pliss to provide ages of the couple. Also, troll or not. Looks like the bigger issue here is his uncontrolled diabetes. A big no no. That needs to be fixed first.

I have thought about finding a lover on the side. I even got one opportunity with a married physician classmate I used to find very attractive but decided not to because it goes against my moral values.

This is a tough situation. Sounds like your husband needs counseling, apart from good medical advice. How old is he?

My husband has received plenty of medical advice. I am a physician and I forced him to see a urologist right away. The biggest problem is compliance. The patient needs to follow the advice to take better care of health through a healthy diet and regular activity to lose weight.

Have you tried Boston Clinic? They claim they can fix a problem like this with just one consultation visit. Make sure your insurance covers your visit and treatment, if any.
