Andhra Pradesh: 'Hindi language a unifying factor' says Union Minister D. Purandeswari
The Minister observed that Hindi emerged as a link language as many in the south had learnt the language and were not averse to recognizing it as a national language.
Union Minister of State for Human Resources D. Purandeswari described Hindi language as a unifying factor of the country.
Participating in the 14 state level Visharad Convocation at the AMCOSA Platinum Jubilee auditorium organized by the Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha here on Sunday, she said that Mahatma Gandhi was instrumental in the founding of the Dakshina Bharata Hindi Prachara Sabha for propagation of the Hindi as a national language. The propagation of the language was aimed at integrating the Hindi speaking states of the North with the Southern states.
The Minister observed that Hindi emerged as a link language as many in the south had learnt the language and were not averse to recognizing it as a national language. She hoped that the Hindi Prachar Sabha would succeed in realising its mandate while respecting the local languages.
The organisation succeeded in teaching Hindi language to three crore people and moulding 50,000 of them as Hindi language teachers. Their success is reflected in the fact that 3.5 lakh candidates had passed Visharada examination and 2.75 lakh persons Basha Praveen course. The bi-lingual magazine ‘Sravanti’ is acting as a bridge between the Telugu and Hindi languages, she stated.
The Union Minister of State for Human Resources, referring to appeals for funds allocation for developing infrastructure facilities in Prachar Sabha offices assured to use her good offices to take up the issue with the union government.
Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha (Madras) President and Chancellor Justice V.S. Malimath, in his presidential address, said that the organisation’s greatest contribution and achievement during its 45 year journey was that it successfully propagated the Hindi language and removed all prejudice and opposition towards it.
He appealed to the union government to implement the recommendations of one man committee of P.R. Das Gupta on propagation of the language and also release funds for improving infrastructure in all Prachar Sabha offices. He also pointed out that the service conditions of Hindi Pracharaks including salaries and perks were not attractive.
Local MLA Dronamraju Sreenivas and Hindi Prachar Sabha state president M. Sita Lakshmi also spoke. Later, certificates of Hindi language courses were presented to the successful students at the convocation.

VIJAYAWADA: General Manager of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Vijayawada, C.K. Radhakrishnan, on Wednesday underlined the need for learning the national language. He said that it would help every one communicate with people of any region in the country. Addressing the valedictory function of "Official Language Fortnight" at the BSNL office here, Mr. Radhakrishnan said that the telecom district bagged `Rajabhasha' rolling shield last year for taking up several programmes to promote Hindi.
