Issues like fundamentalists' protest against author Salman Rushdie's visit made real concerns of underdevelopment and poverty faced by Muslims in Bengal take a back seat, economist Amartya Sen said in Kolkata on Sunday.

It is mainly due to the retrogade "Appeasement" policies practiced by the so-called enlightened geniuses who tend to misuse their fame in an unrelated academic field.

Sen is right. also poverty and underdevelopment are included in the field he does research on (economics).
