turn the concept on it;s head. tell your wife that this year and next five will be a test - if she doesn't expect anything and is happy with you coming home empty handed then she has true love and passed the test. I've been doing this for past 10 yrs with great effect.

Re: Questions
questions to rashmun:
1) is there ever a point in any discussion when you say to yourself, "it seems like i have no clue about this and the person talking to me seems to have spent quite a bit of time immersing themselves in this subject. maybe their informed perspective is deeper than my random internet searches and i am better off taking some time finding out more about this stuff than doing the cut-paste-post routine"?
2) if not, why not?

I called a couple of restaurants, but no luck so far. I guess it's going to be home-cooked dinner and massage, then.

Hallmark and the restaurant industry got together and said they would create a day for themselves in February when everyone likes to stay in. BTW, are you a good cook?

Ok....advise from a "wise man"
One day my wife called me and started crying.. and I said...now what... and she mumbled something and said today is 22nd. I said so ?????
She said it is our anniversary....
and me "oh... I rembered it yesterday itself...but been busy since AM and forgot.."
and added
"anniversary day is the annual bonus day for the excellent work one does during the year.
I don't think she understood what I meant...
hey...there is always the next year....
NOW, DON'T do what this wise man did.
