I really loved the title of this O'Henry story. It is a Jeff Peters-Andy Tucker story. These two guys are swindlers in america who go around making a living by swindling other people (like the guys in 'Dirty Rotten Scounderels'). All the Jeff Peters-Andy Tucker stories are rip roaringly funny. And authentic. O'Henry had spent a fair bit of time in jail (i forget for what reason) and the plots for these stories were coming from the real life adventures of jailed criminals who would tell him their life stories and other memories.

I once tried writing a story based on a particular Jeff Peters-Andy Tucker story. (i posted it on sulekha.) The three swindlers in my story were huzefa kapasi, kris, and myself.
