it is 4 pages long. read the first, got bored towards the end right about the time my ADD kicked in..some of you here might enjoy....
this was surprising though...
But my parents did not read to me or tell me stories; my father did not read any fiction, and the stories my mother may have loved as a young girl in Calcutta were not passed down.

Don't know about hacks but I don't like her writing. How have you been?

I liked it. I always have a sense of anxiety after reading her.
Also brought back some memories of books, and this
I listen to him, and at the same time I have learned not to listen, to wander to the edge of the precipice and to leap
actually reminded me my conversations with my mom.

I have (almost) stopped reading fiction. I liked Interpreter of Maladies. Haven't read any of her work since. Namesake was good with Tabu and Irrfan Khan. The only fiction I read these days is on CH. (In CH tradition, I am not classifying Shahnameh as fiction but as authentic historical record.)

actually, i found it cute! i just had to read more. speaking of conversations with mom, while cleaning out a rather "questionable" box in the basement, i found two very precious things a) an "air mail" hand written letter from my mom to me dated '94, she was here taking chemo and i was back home, she'd written to me from here and b) a whole bunch of index cards with hand written recipes in my mom's handwriting. i have very few memories [i blocked out a whole bunch of bad ones] of her that are tangible and i consider this precious though its probably just a few pieces of paper for some.
moral of the story - "question the questionable no matter how questionable it is" :-)

Did you try any of those recipes?
Yeah, I know. That's all I can think of to say.

i am going to start once i get over the initial reluctance because it does bring back memories and given the drama queen that i am, i need some time before i behave rationally:-)
