program. Tax payers are footing $500 billion bill to build about 2000 of these supposedly hi-tech fighter jet fleet & about a trillion dollars estimated operational costs. Sadly this program appears to be in complete shambles.

For many legislators, the F-35 is as much about employment as it is about air superiority. Lockheed has repeatedly emphasized to legislators, particularly those who sit on appropriations committees, that the plane supports 133,000 jobs, many of them at 1,300 subcontractors and parts suppliers spread across 45 states. When full-rate production begins, likely in 2018, the company says the employment figure will grow to 260,000.

yet another example of misguided capitalism - with focus on profits. You should see these corporations sending the govt their "bills". A 1-hr room charge for a meeting in one of the company's buildings $1800 - their usual routine department meetings I am talking.

This is worse than the $550 toilet seats.
