It is very sad.

May be India should impose age restrictions in consuming alcohol and severe punishment to alcohol nuisances. One of my friend in Bangalore was saying that she had to pay 25000 as a bribe to get an FIR copy of an accident to which she lost her Dad on the spot.

There is bribe for EVERYTHING. Do you know you need to "pay" to cremate and pay more for a death certificate and a lot more for more than 1 copy.

What next....pay to pee on the street ? It is every Indian's birthright - equivalent to the US Second amendment.

I know of a person who was a pretty high official in AP govt in charge of religious places. She worked almost her entire career in a govt building and made friends with others working in the same building, used to eat lunches and drink chais with them for some 30 years. Then it was time for her to retire. She had to pay a bribe to her own friends to get her retirement papers through the officialdom.

She probably took bribes too or was dishonest in other ways. Hence, her colleagues probably didn't want to save her either.

I know of this doctor, a govt hospital superintendent, who was suspended for many irregularities at his hospital. Clearly, he was corrupt. And then, he tried to have the suspension nullified and get his pension money. To move the file in the secretariat, he had to bribe the clerks and all. His comment in disgust, "The world has gone so bad. There's so much corruption out there. the bloody crooks won't work without bribes' etc. Hello? The very reason he was suspended was for being corrupt and who is pointing fingers at for being corrupt. that was funny. What goes around, comes around.
