Hypocrisy
When it is so widespread, when almost everyone has been guilty of it at one point or another, why is it still so hard to tolerate it? Why does one loses respect for someone instantly the moment one senses it in them. Why is it hard to not get upset and to cut some slack and to be understanding and let it go? Why does it feel so important to want to point it out in others? Should we point it out, or should we let it go? Coz ideally we all have been hypocrites at one point or another. What is it about hypocrisy that induces the same reaction in all of us?

Re: Hypocrisy
None tolerates it. We just appear tolerated, but that’s not true -our brains are busy focusing on other things and we might not give that much attention to it....but again some people have a luxury of remembrance for an extended period of time. The brain again activates the hypocrites when it’s free. This is supported by the saying “Idle brain is devil’s workshop”

So why do we get enraged when we catch someone else practicing it on a particular point where we ourselves are more straight.

When the other hypocrite doesn't accept his/her hypocrisy.

Because we humans are also ostriches, with heads in sand. Thinking that we cannot do any wrong easily overlooking our actions. All of us love to preach but not follow.
We also somehow find ways to make our actions appear right while blaming others.
We ALL have done things in the past that we blame others for.
As I said, I have yet to find one person who is not a hypocrite.

Hypocrisy is just another form of dishonesty. Leaving aside the moral aspect, dishonesty evokes anger / annoyance because there is an underlying assumption there that the other party won't spot the inconsistency. And that is an insult to the other's intelligence.
In general, it's human nature to be more forgiving of one's own lapses, and less forgiving when it comes to others.

my great guru baba jamadagni says, "baba says, deceit, cheating, lying, fraud, duplicity and hypocrisy were all essential tools for mankind's survival for millions of years. if it was not for them, humans would not have had such a good run. it is impossible to shake these qualities off for another million years, if at all."
