Saw the preview this weekend, will watch the movie. I don't know why but the Amitabh character seems cringe inducing.
Watched a good movie this weekend called Dans la maison (in the house).

wonder why the "great indian(bollywood) icon" is so excited about a two-bit role in a hollywood movie!
i have watched "swimming pool" by ozon. i don't remember much of it except that it was a thriller.

i wonder if he has even 10 lines and 3 minutes of scree time. what's worse, he looks unkempt, unclean and unwashed in the teasers i have seen. i think his role will be as meaty as that of anil kapoor in ghost protocol.

I liked Swimming Pool too. I liked the deliberate ambiguity and the influence of perspective on what is perceived as "the truth" in both movies.bw wrote:Idéfix wrote:Saw the preview this weekend, will watch the movie. I don't know why but the Amitabh character seems cringe inducing.

I want to watch it for 2 reasons. A) Tony Leung Chui Wai. 2. It was shot by Christopher Doyle. Am interested looking at Doyle's work that is not with Wong Kar-wai.

Re: Gatsby
Yes, that was the original in that genre. I find the modern ones more sophisticated though, with the lines between the competing perspectives / narratives blurred more creatively. In Rashomon, the narratives are mostly competing for your attention; in these movies they are at times complementing and at others conflicting with one another. For sheer simplicity though, it is hard to beat Rashomon.bw wrote:Idéfix wrote:I liked Swimming Pool too.
