Kayal in a recent post asks me what language the national song (Vande Mataram) is in. KV, it is in a mix of bengali and sanskrit.

Refer to the constituent assembly debates. It should be in one of them I think.

My understanding is that KV is not an Indian and has never been an Indian. She is a Lankan Tamil. So there is no reason to call her a traitor.

Any Indian who does not respect the National Song should be considered an idiot, not a traitor. Incidentally a section of Hindus (Arya Samajis) have objections to the National Song also. I consider these people also to be idiots.
