Re: Mothers' Day
Thanks Seva!!
Just booked flowers to my mom. Earlier this week, she was like, "Your sister's flowers came way too early, and may rot by Mother's day, so you make sure you send on the right day, no earlier or later". love her a lot.

Re: Mothers' Day
You are welcome Vidya. It's nice to know that you love your mother a lot and have booked flowers for her on mothers' day. I think I am also going to call my mother tomorrow on the phone ... she is presently in the village in India.

Re: Mothers' Day
son brought a plant from school. that's been a regular for years.
Just heard daughter shouting to son, "DON'T TELL HER"... anyway, the secret is out, she is making some video of me, and editing my face for a Mother's day card. Told her she is doing no such thing. From the giggles happening upstairs, her friend is here, looks like they not listening.

wow looks like my post, but i have zero memory of it. This happens often now, wonder if i am aging faster than others... all i know is that i was truly a single mom that year. what a year, but nothing beats the craziness of this year.
happy mother's day to all the mothers and to the mothers in all your lives.

Glad to know you are well. Interesting times we are living in. There are a handful of people peeping in off and on. Maybe we will ramp up soon. Who knows!
Stay safe.

Re: Mothers' Day
Thanks Seva Kris and Maria. Wishing you the same and nice to see you, Maria. Hope you are doing good.
We spent the day chilling and watching a classic movie and finished a season of a web series. Ended with Thai food delivery.
What all did you all do.

Re: Mothers' Day
... just relaxed. Went for a walk around the park. I have been doing this pretty much everyday to avoid claustrophobia. I think this down time is good to sit back and decide what we want to do going forward and focus on that.desi aunty wrote:Thanks Seva Kris and Maria. Wishing you the same and nice to see you, Maria. Re: Mothers' Day
Thank you Tracy.
Nice to see you keep this site active, admirable!
Health is the priority at this time. Don't work full-time, just Consulting. Timing was interesting, was prepared.
Doing ok. Mother's Day was good..got a lot of take-out food the previous day, did not have to cook. More interactions because it was Mother's Day. Try to have structured days..with routines, a walk (2-3 miles) is part of it.
Although our State has opened up in some ways, Church and other gatherings are via Zoom.
Except for professional interactions, don't participate in Zoom, Skype, Face Time etc really boring, not exciting. Tel. calls and messages work just fine:)
Will come by, when I can!
Take care.

Re: Mothers' Day
I meant being quite selective with zoom, skype..exceptions always exist.
Interesting how real life and e-communications/online connections have totally merged and the norm now! Who would have thought they will be literally "lifelines" to survive?
Speaking of online friendships..have known many of you since Sulekha days..20+ years is a long time. Although we may not personally know each other..so much time spent with with you all.
Stay safe.

Re: Mothers' Day
Good point about real and virtual lives merging. Interestingly, I have uhad a lot more interesting conversations on Sulekha and here than in in-person meetings in a long time. Maybe it is the dynamics of our work lives. I still want to do something big before hanging it up. Of course, there is the 401k driven need to keep at this for awhile longer. So other than the high minded goal, there is a practical need.

Will follow this thread:)
Having been in social media for a long time now, the old Sulekha website and participants still stand out!
For us, Indian immigrants gatherings were/are family and social occasions, not appropriate to spend time dominated by hot discussions with strong differences in opinions!
We were/are mostly polite and politically correct! Sulekha was an unique outlet- to express ourselves, while interacting!
There are many options now. WhatsApp, Facebook and other Groups have continuous discussions..but, the caliber varies. People also don't consistently stay- move around.
Certainly understand the need to accomplish goals and deal with practical needs. We are all affected in some way- evaluations/reevaluations going on in many levels.
Wish you the best Kris.

Re: Mothers' Day
12-13 years here, more on than off...
in a nutshell, it completely changed my life, for good i'd like to believe. i was such an idiot then lol, pretty stuck up and brash. feels like i was a different person living a different life. Yeah, my life threw major curveballs at me, and i would have still hit it one way or another, but i can't imagine how it would have gone if i had not interacted with some of the people on this forum. There was some bitter experiences too, but you gotta sometimes accept it if the good outweighs the bad.
i don't post much here (it's still more than others haha). There are times when a thought or a song comes to my mind, and i think i will post it, but i get busy and think i will post it later, and then i never get to it.
I guess everything runs its course, let's see how this chapter goes...
