Drugmaker Ranbaxy Laboratories pleaded guilty on Monday to felony charges related to drug safety and will pay $500 million in civil and criminal fines under the settlement agreement with the US Department of Justice (DOJ).

The award against Union Carbide for the Bhopal accident in 1984 which killed 500+ people is also $500 mil.
