Another idiot pops up. Why don't you go do a simple Google
search about where these spelling bee champions end up. They are very
successful in their lives. Although it can be argued that kids shouldn't
be studying a dictionary due to lack of social interaction, the fact is
these students all cherish this part of their lives. They go to schools
like Harvard, Stanford, MIT, and start businesses or do very deep
scientific research. Don't judge a book by its cover.

I keep seeing Indian American kids winning these spelling bee contests. Is there something in their DNA or what?

No group can beat Indians when it comes to following a popular or successful task. In short Indians are best copy cats. This must be a DNA thing. Parents have been pushing their kids since Nupur Lala's success in '99.

I went to one of the spelling Bee competition as a kid of a family friend was a participant. It seemed like any Indian association gathering.

Past bee winners -- a professional poker player, director of internal medicine at a well known hospital, a pulitzer prize winning reporter ........ and so on. Not bad.
