Never downloaded any ebook - mainly for lack of knowledge. From where? How? etc

no. absolutely oppose this. my previous employer was an anti-piracy org. music is very cheap. why can't we pay for it? but of course, the SOPA was just stupid and really did not address the "real" issue against internet piracy. it required ISP's to blog sites that to contain links to copyright protected material, even if the "link" was in the "comments" section, totally unrelated to the aforementioned sites.

I once downloaded Adi Shankara's "Soundarya Lahari" from youtube on to a CD. Would that count? At least a dozen or more reditions of Soundarya Lahari by different artists are avalaiable on youtube, but the particular one I downloaded had the most perfect diction, and I couldn't resist.

unless the original owners of the recording[distributors, perhaps] have approached someone to protect their works, it is not "deemed" illegal. Also, how the recording went on to YouTube for a "public viewing" also matters. So, you are ok, technically.
It will be very hard to prove piracy charges in India where there is no single authoritative organization which enforces this, like for example, the Recording industry association of America in the US.

I'll never pay full price for Indian movies. I torrent or copy or online or $1. Download most music I listen to.

If Google is not doing anything illegal, then I am not.

People lie too. That's why they are called humans.

Hmmm... How are tamizh movies protected from free downloads? They don't spend monies in Tollywoods to make Tamizh movies???
Everyone downloads movies, music free, which is illegal. If someone has downloaded ONE, it counts. A download is a download, is a download. One download is no different than the other.
Sure is a zoo.
