and kumudham, used to read some thodarkathais regularly. i remember "udal, porul, aanandhi" very well for some reason:-) i am not sure how good these magazines are any more but growing up, they were an integral part of my life.

kalki, chandamama, balamitra[remember vikramaditya and the vedhalam:-)] and of course amar chithra katha included.

your favs?

my favorites were indrajal comics particularly phantom and mandrake comics. i did not mind bahadur but i had no special inclination for buz sawyer, kerry drake, rip kirby, etc. which were all also published by indrajal. In other reading material, i include tintin and asterix. Also amar chitra katha and tinkle. also chandamama. also diamond comics (chacha chaudhari, chacha bhatija, mama bhanja, fauladi singh, etc.). i also used to read film magazines (stardust, filmfare, etc.).

i read only chandoba (marathi version of chandamama). invariably, there was always at least one story in it that began with "once upon a time there lived a poor brahmin..."

growing up, i thought brahmins were destined to be poor.
