Regardless of how she looked, she was still a pioneer and a great woman.
Her NI husband was more broad minded and progressive than most of the men living in India at that time.
You have to give credit where it is due.

Regardless of how she looked, she was still a pioneer and a great woman. And must be quite courageous to come half way across the world, all alone in a ship and find her way in the new world.
Her NI husband was more broad minded and progressive than most of the men living in India at that time. And we have to admire the fact that even way back in 1880s, the man felt the importance of women being educated. He was also proud that his wife was educated. He was also courageous enough not to be enslaved by the prevailing attitudes at that time in India about women.
Even in 1880s, he was far ahead in thinking compared to many men today in India.

HK,
I point out the negative attitude some NIs express towards SIs.
Whereas JM simply hates NI Hindus.

Is simple hatred preferable to negative attitude, or is it the other way around?Rishi wrote:I point out the negative attitude some NIs express towards SIs.

Great story. It is hard to imagine that she went to the US in the 1880s to study medicine!Rishi wrote:http://www.theworld.org/2013/07/historical-photos-depict-women-medical-pioneers/
