(From a series of articles "The Tamils Eighteen Hundred Years Ago" that were published in Madras Review between 1895 and 1901. It was later published in book form in 1904. The South India Saiva Sidhanta Works, Chennai, Tamilnadu republished the book in 1966 with a forward by former Madras State Education Minister C. Subramaniam)
