Re: Fucking united
I was on the phone with them thrice yesterday, all about the same itinerary. I wanted to use some upgrades/miles on flights from and to India. The first agent was utterly unhelpful and disinterested in my request. I almost abandoned my original idea because of her attitude. Then I called the same number to try a different idea, and I got the best agent ever. On her own initiative, she tried my first idea without my having to ask her, and got it all worked out. When I check my email an hour later, she had gotten the dates of outbound travel from India wrong. So I call back again, and this time I get an agent who doesn't like talking on the phone, but knows her job. I have to ask her three times, "are you still there?" because of long silences, but she does the change correctly. Three people, and three very different levels of service.
And this was their dedicated customer service line for people who fly at least 100,000 miles with them each year.

Yeah, when K had booked the tickets for my kids on their website, there was no alert about the unaccompanied minor rule. In other airlines, he can travel with his older sis who is 14. But here, the rule is that they must be accompanied by an 18-year-old. But apparently, and K swears that his booking went through without any alerts. Then on the day of the flight, they got late in reaching the airport, but they were still an hour early. They kept sending him from this counter to that counter for the unaccompanied services, and his gate pass, basically no one knowing what to do, and then said that they were too late to board. But they gave them next day's tickets w/o any penalties. Next day, K reached there two hours earlier. Still the woman at the counter kept fiddling on her monitor for 30 minutes, not wanting what to do. Fearing they will miss the flight again, K threw a tantrum and asked to be seen by someone else. Finally he did, and that person did the whole thing in 5 minutes. BTW, they charged $150 for unaccompanied minor services. But they didn't tell him to tell me that I was supposed to secure a boarding pass, go through the securities and pick them from the gate. The flight was supposed to come at 8:35 pm, but K said it's now 8:10.. so I reached at 8:00 pm. Kept waiting. FLight landed at 8:20.. but it was 8:50 pm before they could get out, as they had to wait for the whole plane to exit before someone escorted the kids out, and THEN they tell me i was supposed to come in. Lots of confusion there too. Instead of bring them out, they deposited them in young children room, and asked me to get them from there. In all other flights i have sent them as kids, they would be escorted out all the way to the security gates, but not here. Why did they even charge 150 for? K dropped them upto the gate, and I am supposed to pick them from the gates. So anyway now, i ran down to the counter, got a pass, endured long security, and finally picked them up by 9:30 pm. Utter chaos. This French came out when I was waiting in slow moving security lines.Idéfix wrote:I was on the phone with them thrice yesterday, all about the same itinerary.
