I think the priority for modern India is Tamil/Telugu/Kannada/Malayalam/Marati for people from BIMARU states. That would enhance their mobility and job prospects. Mulayam and Akhilesh should be the first ones to enroll. If they want to take the easier route, they can learn Hyderabadi since they already know Urdu.

Former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi once said many years ago "Hindi speakers ask us to study Hindi because it gets us jobs but Hindi speakers are the worst beggars in India and we are feeding them".
