Attn Rishi - Is this class or racial discrimination
When I was checking in for my india trip ( Note to Rashmun- I was visiting India at the same time as Kinnera, one more data point for you), I noticed an interesting thing. Air India had 6 counters open. 4 for economy class and one each for executive and first classes.
Both the first and executive counters were handled by white chicks while the economy class counters were handled by fat Indian women or a dark asian woman ( maybe a filipino) with surly attitude.
Is this class discrimination or racial discrimination. What is Air India's thinking here. That the cattle class passengers don't deserve a polite speaking person or Indian women cannot handle the first class passengers. Please provide some answers.
Thanks.

Might be because most foreigners travel First or Business Class. Indian women in Coach counters perhaps are best equipped to speak in Hindi to some Coach passengers not conversant in English.

Business Economics 101:
1. Take something people want and maximize the profit you can make out of doing it.
2. Offer other things along with the something and keep track of your costs in adding it and the price you can charge for it.
3. When you offer differentiated something, make sure people understand the difference. Create demand.
4. "white chicks" want to fly high, have fun and lay over in exotic locales but only if they can deal with greenbacked passengers. And they have first dibs on the caviar and champagne inventory.
5. "fat Indian women" want to fly high, have fun on a wing and a prayer and get lousy midtown hotels with bed bugs and blaring alarm clocks. They take it out on their wards - cattle class you.
In short, Air India has succeeded in making you feel jealous and be willing to fork out 3x your ticket so you can partake the festivities next time.
ps. #4,#5 apply mutatis mutandis to cabin staff, gate agents and the 1 900 cust svc folk you call when your suitcase ends up in bhubaneshwar instead of tuticorin.
