coyote
spotted one wandering about the cul-de-sac this morning. my dog has been growling the last couple of nights i've taken her out out before going to bed. i didn't see anything, but i surmised this might be a possibility, and this morning, clear as day spotted him. called animal control and let them know, but they're quite blase about it. apparently they're all over the place.

Re: coyote
Coyotes must be hard up for food. They have taken to exploring the backyards of vegetarian (just assuming) households too.

Re: coyote
i am vegetarian at home, but none of the neigbors are and our houses are not fenced in. so the coyote can easily wander from yard to yard.Huzefa Kapasi wrote:max is not vegetarian but i don't know if he cooks it in his house. max do you?indophile wrote:Coyotes must be hard up for food. Re: coyote
i doubt very much they are wandering around in the hope of finding human food scraps. our neighborhood also abounds in small mammals - bunnies, squirrels, wood chucks and things and turkeys. i recently spotted three turkey hens with babies in tow. i wonder if the coyote is attracted to these prey.

Re: coyote
wow, what was the lagtime between seeing the coyote and calling animal control? you seem to have acted very fast. cuz when I see these things in my mom's backyard or crossing the street, I just run back into the house.MaxEntropy_Man wrote:spotted one wandering about the cul-de-sac this morning. my dog has been growling the last couple of nights i've taken her out out before going to bed. i didn't see anything, but i surmised this might be a possibility, and this morning, clear as day spotted him. called animal control and let them know, but they're quite blase about it. apparently they're all over the place.

30 seconds after i was sure it was a coyote and not some stray german shepherd. i had the benefit of my dog growling the two previous nights when i took her out.pravalika nanda wrote:wow, what was the lagtime between seeing the coyote and calling animal control? you seem to have acted very fast. cuz when I see these things in my mom's backyard or crossing the street, I just run back into the house.MaxEntropy_Man wrote:spotted one wandering about the cul-de-sac this morning. my dog has been growling the last couple of nights i've taken her out out before going to bed. i didn't see anything, but i surmised this might be a possibility, and this morning, clear as day spotted him. called animal control and let them know, but they're quite blase about it. apparently they're all over the place.

Re: coyote
They sell coyote urine in bottles for use as a deterrent for deer, bunnies, etc., i.e., the deer and rabbits who come and eat your flower and vegetable garden. Now, with a real coyote roaming in the neighborhood, you will be rid of the deer menace (and save some money too), and watch the tomatoes up to the red color.
