Narendra Modi will personally eliminate corruption in Gujarat with this bill

One of the most shameless actions of the Congress government in recent years has been how it dealt with the public anger against corruption in India. It pulled out the usual political playbook against people campaigning against corruption, and succeeded in diverting attention from the issue.

Narendra Modi, his supporters usually claim, is above such corrupt behavior. He has either eliminated corruption in Gujarat single-handedly, or is about to do so any moment now. So when it comes to the Lokayukta ombudsman bill for Gujarat, what does he do? He passes a bill that is more diluted than the version the Congress came up with!

Narendra Modi's government today took advantage of the opposition's absence in the state assembly to pass without fracas a diluted Gujarat Lokayukta Commission Bill 2013, which includes no change sought by the state's governor, Kamla Beniwal.

Ms Beniwal had last month returned the bill, which proposes to give all powers to appoint the state Lokayukta or ombudsman to a committee headed by the Chief Minister, virtually eliminating the governor as well as the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court from the process.

If you want to eliminate corruption, take a chance with Aam Aadmi, Lok Satta or like-minded parties. Also, ensure that everyone gets educated on civics, ethics and punishments. Make laws work and speed up court judgements.

Hanging Marie Antoinette and Chauchesku led to serious changes in their countries. In India, such sikular politicians are treated as VVVVVVIPs.

I thought corruption was the most important issue for you, guruvu-gaaru. And Modiji wants to make the Lokayukta an appointee of the CM, and give the government the choice of accepting or rejecting the Lokayukta's findings. Modiji seems no different from CONgoons when it comes to fighting corruption, does he?

Shri NaDamoMo is the paragon of all virtue. A perfect human being, incapable of being unjust.

In his previous avatar, he is known to have exiled his wife on mere whispers about her chastity. Likewise, if someone accuses him of corruption, Shri NaDamoMo won't have any hesitation in taking the most ruthless action. So why should there be some Lokayukta sitting in judgement and double-guessing our god-on-earth?? Lokayuktas are for immoral CONgoons only.

Your faultfinding with our ~~Supreme Leader~~ God is only because you are a sickular fukular CONgoon - notwithstanding your attempt to distance yourself with that faux-critical preamble.

Your reaction is interesting. Your antagonism for Modi is driving you to think the way you do. Where did I suggest in my post that I condone Modi on G-Lokayukta? If I suggested that people should vote for Aam Aadmi or Lok Satta, did that mean I supported Modi? Remove your colored glasses.

On a similar note, Pappu and Diggy bhow bhow are plotting to create the impression that the "new generation" of CONmen are opposed to corruption, etc. They are trying to create a smoke screen that the new CONmen will be different from the old (2-G, Coal, Kalmadi, etc.). Reminds me of the story of the old tiger that tries to survive by pretending to be a vegetarian!
