Indian election commission announced the inclusion of NOTA provision in the upcoming elections in five states. the none of the above option will be added to the ballot paper aafter the last candidate name. the winner will be decided by whoever gets maximum votes among those on the ballot.
no clarification on what happens if NOTA options gets max votes. a new election may be required.
this clarifies that negative vote does not target individual candidate but the entire slate of candidates on the ballot.
it will hopefully force more candidates to work for positive voter endorsement.

Let's see - it's a complex issue. Referendum is better than the negative vote in such cases.

Even the recall vote will become a gimmick for political parties and interest groups to unnecessarily harass their opponents.

They need to amend RPA for NOTA votes to affect the outcome. Right now the candidate with the most votes will win even if NOTA has more votes.

In a more enlightened atmosphere, nota majority means a new election as the winner cannot morally claim to represent those people. However in India the highest vote getter will gleefully runaway with the prize.
A good avenue for the nota. Experiment is college or university elections. Here the student body could express themselves by rejecting abvp or nsui type political slates.

 Instead of this ridiculous nonsense that means nothging, a plebescite should be held in each state similar to thge ones in Quebec (Canada), East Timor (Indonesia), Slovak (Czekiolavokia).

Supreme Court shourt nullify thge 1960s consitutional amendment requiring candidates to swaer to uphold the integrity of India,
