For Modi, the opportunity to mock the Congress (but why?) for the ASI expedition in Unnao was temporarily more tempting than addressing his core community. Once that jab was made, he suddenly had to worry about the strong reaction from the swamy’s followers. Hence the retraction. So what if the world laughs!

But this is not the first time the world has laughed at Modi. Everytime he mouths some “facts”, the world laughs. Its now become an instinctive reaction. It’s like when a stand-up comedian says even the most plain, boring statement, the audience first laughs, then wonders about what he has spoken! Well, Modi has “earned” himself this reputation, and the #feku tag in the process. When he said China spent 20% of its GDP on education, little did he expect the media to pay attention to such minor details. And the Congress to point out that actually the number was only 3.93%, and that India spent more than China did (4.2%). Besides, and this is why the world really laughed, the spend was more during Congress rule than during NDA’s (1.67%)!

Or when Modi spoke about Shashi Tharoor’s “Rs 50 crore girlfriend”, or that “Gujarati women are figure conscious, hence they are malnourished”, he induced peels of laughter around the world. Equally, when he thunders at Pakistan and China, threatening them as it were, and exposes exactly how much he knows of international diplomacy – which is precisely zero – the world sits back at laughs. If this is the PM that India is going to get, India is going to soon become a comedy circus! And every time Modi will speak, it will be like downtown London’s famous stand-up comedy act!

Regarding the looking for the Gold treasure, Americans also have been doing stuff like looking for the treasure buried by Al Capone and you have weird cults like Moromonism, Scientology, Branch Davidians. And the mother of cults is the Catholic church. When a white catholic washes Pope's feet, that is cool.

All it matters is to clean up India's streets and rivers, make the country rich and thus raise the standard of living. If Indians export quality products like Japanese, no one in the world would care whether the Hindu who made that product worships snakes or cows in the privacy of his home or even in his temple.

Why does Modi tell blatant lies ? For instance his claim that China spends 20% of its GDP on education was found to be false.

BJP had earlier agreed with Cong on the ordinance. That is why the bill was passed in the RAjya Sabha. Unethical BJP, however, realized that many gullible and naive people did not like the ordinance and so they opposed it in LS. Caught on the Blackfoot, Cong neutralized the BJP move through Rahul Gandhi.

Personally I support the ordinance. The reason is that rivals of a politician could embroil him in false cases and thereby get him disqualified.

Modi's innuendos can never be points of discussion in any serious debate. Fatigue among neutral observers of Indian politics has already begun to set in after the arousal of initial curiosity.The standard of political discourse on the whole has fallen so badly that it seems to be the reflection of the times and Modi takes it further down with innuendos that could be wholly avoided.What a far cry it is from the presidential debate we get to see in America! Great oratory was always associated with personalities like Dr.Radhakrishnan, Winston Churchill, V.K.Krishna Menon ,to name a few of yesteryears and Vajpayee, Obama of current era. There was a time when Dr. Radhakrishnan was held as the benchmark of fine oratory and today people who play to the gallery to win cheap popularity are labeled as great orators not only by the lay listeners but by people in the media too who ought to know better. What appalling depths standards have really fallen to and how little it takes to be called a leader in the present times!
