Delhi: NRI woman arrested for shoplifting
A 52-year-old US based NRI woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing three expensive shawls from a south Delhi showroom after the shoplifting act was caught on CCTV, police said on Monday.
The woman, identified as Neetu Talwar, was arrested on Sunday from her brother's house in Greater Kailash C-Block. The three shawls were also recovered from the house.
"We had received a complaint from the showroom's owner on Thursday that three expensive pashmina shawls were stolen. We checked the CCTV footage of the showroom and the woman was spotted stealing two shawls on Tuesday while she returned to shoplift another one on Wednesday," said a police official.
Once the woman was identified, the police raided her brother's house and arrested her and recovered the three shawls from the premises.
The woman had come to visit her brother, who lives in Greater Kailash C-Block, while her husband and children are in the US.
