Rash,
there are so many stories on this Modi affair. What is the base story?
My reading says the following:
Some ias officer pimped( introduced) this educated girl to Modi. Saab carried an affair with this urban girl. Over time they fell out. Swab ordered his minion to keep an eye on old flame.
Media got wind of it. Congress makes sure media hell breaks loose.
The crime: official : breaking of privacy laws and misuse of authority.
Unofficial: Modi is sleeping around and does snooping around to get his way.
Add or modify details.
Is this story getting any traction beyond secular media?

The IAS officer was given the task of rebuilding Bhuj after the earthquake. He decided, among other things, to build a park. Somebody introduced this Gujarati girl whose parents were in Bhuj but who was educated in and based out of Bangalore.She was an architect and so the IAS guy offered her the task of building the park which she accepted.

At the inauguration of the park, Modi had come and the IAS officer called this girl on stage and introduced her to Modi in front of everyone. That is how she met Modi.

It transpires that the girl then started having an affair with Modi and Modi had put her under illegal surveillance by the anti-terror squad, crime branch, CB-CID, basically all the state machinery at his disposal. Illegal surveillance is a violation of the Indian Telegraph act and carries a jail term. Besides, the usage of state machinery for his personal ends is also patently illegal.

Incidentally the girl is young enough to be Modi's daughter. She was born in 1977.

Hey jumping to conclusions is not the preserve of psuedo secularist. Since I did enough reading on this useless topic, I am looking to fill in blanks from rabid Congress supporters such as you and rash.
on the topic of partisan views, if Modi gets cut down in size by this scandal (fairly or otherwise) I am ok. He cheated my candidate for pm, nitish kumar( now my only hope is that circumstances do not make another laloo out of nitish).

Your post says girl was under surveillance.
Modi defence : every place cm needs to go is ore cleared. Persons who are close to cm needs cover to protect from jehadi or Congress inspired terror or bad elements.
Neutral: the operation was limited to cm security concerns.
Congress offence: Modi misused authority during the affair to keep an eye on madhuri. Continued surveillence after affair which is a creepy thing to do.
Why is the girl not speaking? What validity does a father's statement have about the opinions of a 30 plus year adult?

There is a twofold reason because of which the girl is not speaking. First, she is now married. And second, she and her family have benefitted due to their association with Modi. They have been given multi crore contracts by the Gujarat govt.

So the witness is uncooperative. And probably compromised( speaking financially).
So that leaves only abuse of power on the table. So the question comes down to did Modi order surveillance of madhuri after their affair? Yes?

The surveillance was taking place during the affair. He was scared she would talk about their relationship to other people.

ok. So the Congress angle is that modi kept her under surveillence to keep her mouth shut. Large contract sweetened the pie to seal the mouth permanently.
Other than some regular political scoring points what is left for Congress in this deal?

Illegal usage of state machinery for doing illegal surveillance in a way that violates Indian Telegraph Act and carries punishment of minimum 3 years imprisonment.

The key word is illegal. As I wrote above, what is wrong with modi defence? Security of cm and keeping an eye on places he frequent?
It may be politically inconvenient but not illegal if this comes out.
I am sure rahul follows the same security for his secret meetings with his columbian girlfriend? Or used to.

Soon after the surveillance of the girl took place the IAS officer Pradeep Sharma was booked on seven cases which he claims are false and he was put in jail for I think almost an year. The recordings show Amit Shah telling Singhal that he wants Sharma to be given a jail term at least as long as the one given to Vanzara.
Sharma is out on bail now and his case against Modi is coming up for hearing in the Supreme Court in the first week of December. BJP claims Sharma was stalking the girl; Sharma denies this.
