Addressing a meeting here to explain the Sri Lankan Tamil Rights vis-à-vis India’s stand, he said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s decision to stay away from the Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meeting, held in Colombo, was intended to give Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa a shock.

Well...MMS tried to give Rajapakse a shock. Except MMS and PC did not realize that there was no power to give any shock due to powercut.

But in the letter Indian PM MMS wrote to Rajapaksa informing him that he would not attend the Conference, MMS did not say anything about Tamil people or human rights. While India kept the letter secret, Rajapaksa released it to press after some Tamil Nadu politicians said that Indian PM did not go to Sri Lanka because of human rights violations against Tamils.
