i spent 2 crores...
... in the last one year (i just finished calculating) on:
- stamp duty and registration fees for properties i already own (transfer within the family or firm/company to family). 0.5 crores
- lawyer fees (several hearings in high court and 3 in supreme court; i won. SC lawyer charges rs 3.5 lacs for every hearing). 0.3 crores
- reinvestment in business. 0.8 crores
- buying relative's share in ancestral property (dead investment that i now regret. bad decision). 0.3 crores
it is shocking on three counts for me -- that i spent so much just to reinforce/protect my assets (the first item enumerated above) and that i spent so much on advocates and that i spent so much in a time of recession! and the recession will intensify and get uglier day by day the way i see it. meanwhile advocate fees will rise and so will stamp duty and registration fee. i am very glad i am finished with stamp duty and registration for this life (i had thought the same thing, same time, last year).

Re: i spent 2 crores...
BJP, in its manifesto (yet to be released), promises abolishment of income tax and indirect tax. it wishes to substitute it with a transaction tax of 1.5% on every transaction. i don't know how that works out but it sure sounds out-of-the box thinking.
