1. Preeti bharara is a media hugging publicity seeking future politician. he wants to establish his non partisan credentials by insulting Indians.
2. The Richard in the name has something to do with all local attention.
3. looks like devyani committed to paying 4500 usd on paper. It is a lot of money for a maid even in usa.but if you gave such paper to authorities she is in trouble.
4. searches - are they true? If yes, see item 1.
5. Indian reaction - bizarre. not polished. over done.
6. indian reaction - ifs fraternity and her caste .
7. related to sonia summons. possible but not likely.
8. it will blow over in few days.
9. prediction: it is utterly foolish on Indian side to insult us delegations who have nothing to do with the incident. some of these people remember such insults for very long time and hurt India in crucial votes.
